Legartis appoints Dennis G. Jansen as General Counsel and Head of Legal AI

Zurich, 31 August 2026. Legartis has appointed Dennis G. Jansen, LL.M., as General Counsel and Head of Legal AI. Jansen takes responsibility for the legal function at Legartis and for the team that translates legal requirements into the Legartis Legal AI Workspace. He took up the position on 12 August 2026.

The development of Legal AI brings together two disciplines that traditionally work apart. Legal professionals define the substantive requirements, AI engineering teams translate them into technical systems. With this dual role, Legartis brings both perspectives together under one shared responsibility.

Jansen previously served as Chief Legal Officer at CoachHub and as interim Chief Legal Officer at Staffbase. He also develops software himself, including the forensic software and Docker infrastructure of his company Devidence as well as automated AI redlining systems. At CoachHub he built the legal and information security function while the company grew from around 20 to more than 1,000 employees, and he was responsible for certifications including ISO 27001, ISO 27701 and SOC 2.

For Jansen, one central question stands at the heart of the role: how can legal AI systems be developed so that legal professionals can reliably review their results and take responsibility for them?

We are now dealing with agentic workflows that largely prepare and complete legal work on their own. Legal professionals therefore have to either become AI experts themselves or work with specialised AI systems that deliver legal quality with results that are traceable and auditable at any time.”

Dennis G. Jansen is a lawyer and software developer based in Berlin. He holds an LL.M. from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law with a Certificate in Law and Technology as well as a Berkeley Law Artificial Intelligence Institute Certification, and he has passed the Second State Examination in Law in Germany.
