A Contract Playbook, also called a legal playbook, is a digital rulebook that captures your company’s policies and standard wording for contracts: for example, which clauses must always be present, which wording is not permitted, or which values apply to deadlines and liability caps. The AI uses the playbook to automatically check incoming contracts against these standards and flag any deviations.
Yes. Legartis includes ready to use best practice playbooks with requirements validated in advance, based on established legal best practice. You can start reviewing contracts immediately, without any setup. When you are ready, add your own company standards to these best practice requirements.
The Contract Playbook Creator is the legal playbook software within the Legartis workspace. You chat with the Legal Agent or upload sample contracts. The AI derives your company requirements from these and automatically creates a complete Contract Playbook for the relevant contract type. Sample contracts, contract templates or requirement lists are helpful but not essential. They simply speed up the process and help the AI tailor the playbook precisely to your needs.

You do, for each requirement in the playbook. There are three options. Mandatory: if the requirement is missing from the contract, it is flagged as missing. Optional: if it is missing, it counts as fulfilled. Not permitted: if it appears in the contract, the AI proposes removing it. You also set the permitted values and the risk level for each requirement. Anything the review later completes on its own follows a decision you made here.
Absolutely. You can adjust existing policies or add new ones at any time. You monitor and steer AI quality yourself. The AI creates test sets per company policy based on your uploaded contracts and assigns each policy a quality score. You can improve this score by reviewing and adjusting the passages the AI has annotated.
We measure quality using several metrics, including the F1 score, a standard measure that balances precision (how accurate the results are) and recall (how complete they are). On average, we achieve an F1 score of over 90%. The more sample contracts you provide, the more meaningful the test set becomes, and the higher the quality we can deliver.
Yes. Every contract review and every piece of feedback you provide flows back into the playbook. The AI continuously refines its understanding of your requirements. The more you use it, the more precise it becomes. You can also actively steer this process by using your sample contracts for targeted user tuning.
We use specialised AI agents that work together to build your playbook. One agent generates policies, another defines prompts, and a third creates and annotates the test set. Once you validate the results, the agents refine the playbook further to reflect your expertise.
Yes. Our AI is fully flexible and can recognise and check any policy in any contract type.
Yes. All files are stored in line with the GDPR, exclusively in Swiss or European data centres. On request, we delete the original documents automatically and irreversibly once playbook creation is complete, or at a time of your choosing.
